I've only had this for a week and have smoked a few things, but wanted to leave my initial impressions.    For the money, I am blown away with the features of this smoker and the quality.    I've had propane and electric smokers before and this one combines the benefits of both.   With quick and accurate heat the well insulated unit sips gas.   Smoke comes on quick and lasts long if you use water soaked chunks.   The only feature I wish it had was an external thermomter, but that was a quick and easy addition.   The casters and the propane tank rack are a real bonus.

Fantastic value

I don't know why some have an issue with temperatures. I put this together and installed the knob so that the off was lined up when the valve was off. According to my digital thermometer - the initial smoke set at 250F had the unit run up to 272F before it started controlling and then it dropped and held at 247 to 255 all night long.  Hard to argue with that. The turkey looks beautiful. The build quality was good. Only one issue with one cooking rack wire welded not quite straight. Doesn't affect use in any way. I did add a door gasket and used a large disposable baking pan on the bottom rack for water in place of the included water pan. What this could benefit from in design is a larger water pan to allow overnight smokes and a larger wood chip/chunk pan. If Masterbuilt came up with these modifications in a retrofit package - I would buy them.

As good as I hoped for!

I had a 40 inch propane, and a 30 inch electric, both Masterbuilt smokers. The propane smoker never worked right, even when it was new. The 30 inch electric was great, until it stopped in the middle of smoking a pork butt. It was about four years old, and had lived outside that whole time. I always kept it covered, and it always worked until last time. 
I liked the electric better, but I couldn't put a full packers, cut brisket in the small electric, so I opted for a 40 inch electric.
There were several reviews that indicated the instructions were less than ideal. I strenuously disagree. Since it weighs 86 pounds, according to the box, I got my son to help me handle it. We turn it upside down, and unpacked it, then installed the legs. Total time spent 20 minutes. We turn it back over, install the temperature control the back handle and the door bracket. Total time spent 10 minutes, including sliding in the shelves, bottom, grease tray, and chip holder.

Prior to actually smoking, I am very satisfied.

I previously owned the Masterbuilt standard propane smoker and was really happy with it. I decided I wanted larger and thermostatically controlled temperature, I'm very happy with this smoker, it holds temperature well, the temperature setting is about 15 degrees off though but it's constant so I know to add 15 degrees to my temperature. 
Nice easy smoker to use - give yourself plenty of time to assemble it's not hard but is time consuming.

It's a chore to put together but this thing is as solid as a rock. showed up quickly and was packaged well. instructions are great and it's a wonderful smoker

Great purchase

This smoker works great and keeps the temperature pretty darn close to your setting. Wish the wood chip pan was a little bigger but it smokes great!

Great smoker

First one we ordered never showed up on our doorstep, Walmart sent another one.  Second box came smashed with several bent parts, and very sharp edges that needed to be filed and sanded. Extensive assembly process.  However after all of that the overall product seemed to be descent in build quality... Burner lit right up. Seasoning process went well but Skip putting vegetable oil on racks and doors. Made everything sticky. The temp control works quite well. Smoked two small Turkey breasts and cooked sides for Thanksgiving. Came out well for a first try. Will get better as you get used to everything, and how to do it.

A lot of potential, and nice features for price.
