With its slatted, open bottom, this will be perfect for storing the patio cushions over winter although I'm not sure how to keep the mice out.

It has provided much needed storage in an attractive package. We would highly recommend it to anyone or any family needing convenient storage. Although we know it is intended for outdoor use, it served our purpose for indoors as well.

Great product!

It is slightly too short to hold pool noodles without bending them - but we knew that from looking at the dimensions before we bought it. To keep mice and bugs out you'll need to add something to the bottom because the slats are wide on the bottom of the box. It is a little bit lighter weight than we expected it to be, so I'm not sure that it would make a good sitting bench. The top of one side was split on delivery, but customer service promptly sent us a replacement side. We like the hydraulics that keep the lid open, but it would be nice if the box opened a little bit more to a full 90 degrees to make it easier to get bins in and out with them installed. The box looks really nice on the patio - even nicer that the picture shows.

Good box for the money

It's really lovely looking and it went together really well. The devices meant to slow down the lid from closing don't work and I was disappointed about that but then I looked at the one we owned previously and they had the same issues. All in -- it's beautiful and just what we needed for the outside to hold a few random yard things. By the way, the other box that I had like this lasted for 15 years. It looked good for 10 even in heavy weather (all weather).

Good product! It looks classy!

Beautiful wood, nicely fashioned, smooth finish really spruces up our patio. Roomy, stores all our chair cushions and still room for more. I've left 2 cushions on top for a seating area and a small fern and bromiliad. Assembly was easy. Taken one star off as cover on nice pneumatic hinges only opens halfway at an odd angle which makes putting away and arranging cushions harder. Fully open would be better. Also the board where top back joins the cover came w two 4 inch long cracks on the inside that will be repaired w wood putty or may call for a replacement board. The 2 brass hinges still install fine near these cracks and are still strong. Overall very Classy piece. #sweepstakes

Will order matching pieces :)

This is a nice-looking storage bin but has major flaws and I would not recommend it to anyone. The handles on each end and the two openings in the front are all open to the weather, and the first moderate rain let in a huge amount of water. Thus, as delivered, this would not be appropriate for outdoor use. Fortunately, I am pretty handy and have been able to add waterproof pieces to block these four openings. I am still testing to ensure that this will be OK for outdoor use before putting our seat cushions inside at night. Also, all of the screws provided were of the cheapest quality and stripped heads even with hand-held screw drivers. I have replaced all of the screws with proper stainless steel equivalents. I have also added some nice 4-inch brass cabinet pulls to fit over the openings at each end so that it can be moved about if needed. The eucalyptus wood seems to be splitting after a few days of light rain and I will refinish the entire unit with polyurethane. I have put together many furniture items and this is absolutely the worst I have ever received. I would have returned it, but had already put it together and destroyed the box. I will be more cautious ordering from Pottery Barn in the future. I would recommend less than one star if possible.

I would not recommend this. Poor design and poor quality.

I purchased 3 benches for storage around my pool. They were easy to assemble, however, the joints on the tops of all 3 were splitting and loose. Also, the description in the catalog did not mention that the product needed to be treated with outdoor furniture oil or an outdoor polyurethane, an added chore considering the cost of each bench. The lids only open to 45 degrees making it difficult to put somethings in the benches for storage. Additionally, a latch for the lids is needed as a strong wind will blow them open.

I would not buy this product again

As much as I love the looks of this item it is poorly constructed. I received the item with the panels broken. I figured that it was due to shipping damage. Customer service was wonderful and expedited a new one. When I opened that box I found that two of the panels were broken. It appears that the wood is too thin at joint and is cracking. I would give customer service 5 stars for sure though.

I would not buy again

I ordered this to put outside on our Lanai. After three replacement parts I asked for a refund. The joints are so weak they crack. Even after sitting they dry out a crack becoming unusable! I definitely would not recommend you purchase this product!!!!

DON'T BUY AS IT IS JUNK

Quality of construction is HORRIBLE. When assembling I had to spit a slat on one end of the back piece to allow it to nest properly and be square. The two piston type arms broke upon installation so I ended up throwing them away and use rope to secure the lid. Two of the boards on the lid were warped and didn't extend the full length to the end pieces.

Don't buy this -- contruction quality is HORRIBLE
