Chair frames are crafted of solid Eucalyptus Grandis wood certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) to ensure our wood is sourced from responsibly managed forests. A multi-layer finish affords protection against the elements. Caring for Eucalyptus Wood Your eucalyptus wood furnishings arrive with a multi-step protective finish that halts insects and microorganisms that cause rot. Plan to regularly reapply marine teak oil or any high quality sealer with UV protection. Furnishings kept in the shade may only require treatment once a year; furnishings exposed to extreme conditions would benefit from application of oil or sealer up to four times a year. Liberally apply teak oil on wood with a paint brush or spray bottle. A cloth is not recommended except for minor touch-ups. After allowing teak oil to absorb into wood for approximately 45-55 minutes in the shade or 20-30 minutes in direct sun, you may lightly remove any excess with a soft cloth. Allow 24-36 hours for drying before using your furniture. Eucalyptus wood that is not maintained regularly will weather to a gray hue over time and may develop splintering. Unfinished eucalyptus wood furnishings will have a reduced lifespan of approximately 5 to 10 years.
