I came across the Kamado Joe brand while researching Grill/Smokers. I have primarily used propane grills for my grilled foods for close to 40 years. I tried an electric smoker for a short time. I wasn't impressed with that. I thought that I would end up with a pellet smoker/grill… it seemed like that was the way to go. My son-in-law has one and it seemed to produce some nice smoked meats. The main reason I went with Kamado Joe was that during my research I learned that pellets could become clumped in humid climates. Being that I live in FL, humidity is a huge factor. I also didn't like the idea of having to plug in a pellet grill and that most cannot sear. I started watching YouTubes on Kamado grills and these grills really intrigued me. The last charcoal style grill I had used was a small Habachi grill,  40 something years ago. Let me tell you, cooking with lump charcoal is the ticket, especially with Kamado Joe. Easy to bring up to temperature and the temperatures hold! I bought my Kamado Joe directly from the website and it came to my house packed extremely well. It was easy to assemble (you'll need another person for the lift up). I chose the Series I simply because of the price. I would have loved to have the newer style lid and hinge system but so far this grill/ smoker is working great! I've smoked 4 racks of ribs, seared and cooked ribeyes and smoked chicken. They all came out great! My next challenge will be a brisket. If you're on the fence about these grills… go for it. There's tons of videos with tips and recipes for this style of grilling/smoking. Does it take a little extra time to prepare your meals? Absolutely. But the quality of the cook will totally impress your loved ones and friends.

Classic Joe - Series I - Love it!

I've had it a few weeks now, done several cooks, and love it so far.  It's a perfect size for the the two of us.  It holds temperature very well and everything I've cooked on it has tasted great.  It's light enough for one or two people to move easily, but added a Grilla Cart, (it fit perfectly) which gets it up a bit higher.  Highly recommended.

Perfect for our needs

This is bar none the best grill I've ever purchased for my husband. He absolutely loves it and it creates gourmet food regularly. Use and cleanup is super simple. Kamado Joe is not only the best Kamado/egg grill on the market, but the best charcoal grill money can buy. Walmart ran a sale and I couldn't purchase it any faster.

Amazing Grill on a deal!

I love my new classic. It does replace a classic  that I bought about 13 years ago. This one is a much better quality and comes with more valuable accessories.  I have been very pleased and love trying the new accessories.  Thank you for such a great quality product!

Love my new Classic

Amazing what you can cook on such a small grill. Yes you can BBQ for a family of 4!  4 lb pork Butt, or beer can whole chicken, or 4 New York steaks. I also own a Big Joe 24”  and 22” Weber kettle but use this Joe jr grill 80% of the time. The times I'm  using the other grills are for ribs or 7-8Lb pork butts. This grill can do ribs if you buy a rib rack and fold them but I have other options when I need the space. My point is this is a surprising grill that can smoke, grill, and make amazing food. Ceramic grills really help keep moisture in the food keeping it juicy with tons of flavor. Great job Kamado Joe for making such a great and economical option!

Joe Jr is amazing

The rollback price was fantastic and the delivery guys really worked magic. This smoker is huge and the guys were able to get it as close to the final location as possible. Very happy with the purchase.

Great grill and delivery experience

Very efficient use of lump charcoal, cooks everything perfectly. Great companion to full size Kamado Joe. Built a moveable stand to be able to move it easily.

Perfect size for two people!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had a Joe Jr. for almost two years now, and it has truly transformed the way we barbecue (and the way we think about outdoor cooking in general.) For its size and price, it's a wonderful gateway to the world of ceramic grill cooking. And for small households (we're seniors), it lets us cook all of our favorites (salmon, paella, and lamb burgers) in more than adequate quantities, using less charcoal and often in half the time of the full-sized grills.

For its size it satisifies all of our needs!

I don't think that this item will be back in stock so this is a review for Walmart's handling of this situation. Item was delivered without cover that description states is included. Also the ceramic had some small cracks in the inside of the base. Nothing that went through to the exterior but enough that should be a concern. I took photos and offered them. Item is no longer in stock and they don't see it in stock in foreseeable future. Offered a paltry 10% off for  compensation for damage and missing cover. That equates to $72.  The cover alone is valued at $120 on KJ website. Thanks for nothing. I ordered thousands of dollars of items from Sam's club and had one issue. They discounted the item 50% so they didn't have to come pick it up. I guess Walmart would rather pay freight carriers more than the discount they are willing to give customers for a damaged item.
