I guess you could, but I wouldn't. Seems like it'd be too much of a pain in the rear end. But you could if you really wanted. It's a smoker though.

Yes it has the temperature grommet in the side.

It wont get hot enough  for anything  that requires being seared , like burgers or steak.   if  you  don&#39;t fill the water bowl   you can probably reach temperatures of 350 degrees .   hot enough for chicken.    It shines  where you want to maintain a temp of  225 to 250 for long periods of time.      if  you use just the bottom portion  and the cover   you can use it like a small kettle grill

The number will always end with the number 13, and if the three numbers preceding it are higher than 273, then it is a 2014 model, and should have a grommet. Extremely happy with this smoker. Produced the best BBQ that I've done. I own electrics/ barrel offsets/ vertical offsets, and nothing came close to the flavor that this little thing puts out. Super simple, holds steady, ran a brisket for 16+ hours on 1 basket of coals. Overall, awesome.

This is the perfect smoker. I have the 14, 18 and 22 Smokey Mountains and this is the best size to get. You can smoke everything from turkey to party wings.

I received my WMS last year for Christmas. My family and I have become much closer now. They can't wait for the weekend to see what I smoke next. I love the double rack which allows for meat to smoke. Amazing Smoker! Every house needs one.

my new favorite smoker. It took a little learning curve to dial in temps for particular cooks, but being able to create a more direct smoke profile is wonderful. The only nick I'd give it is the somewhat flimsy side door. I have 5 smokers and this is my go to for medium size cooks.

Great smoker. I've already smoked ribs and pork belly with delicious results. I'm looking forward to smoking fish and chicken with it. My only complaint is with the absence of any type of seal between the lid and the smoker itself. A lot of smoke is lost via this gap. There are aftermarket seals that eliminate this issue, but I don't know if this has any significant effect on overall quality.

In the process of moving from my old home last year, my Weber gold kettle grill, 14” Weber smoker and custom cart were stolen.  How low can you get?

I'm trying to replace the missing pieces one at a time - starting with the smoker.  Enter the 18” WSM into my life.

Like every Weber product I've ever owned, this smoker is an unbeatable value.  When you spend large amounts of money on meat, you want consistent  results.  Consistent results only come from consistent cooking experiences.  That's what sets Weber apart.  Unlike the vast majority of “affordable”smokers on the market, Weber smokers burn/smoke consistently.  Consistent cooking produces consistent products.  I strongly urge you to protect your meat investments by buying the highest quality product - the Weber Smokey Mountain.

In addition, Weber customer service is incredible.  My smoker was preassembled by the store where I purchased.  When I got it home, I noticed the silicone probe seal was missing.  The store no longer had it.  I called Weber customer service and was treated with kindness and professionalism.  While on the call, I asked about the fitment of the access door (mine seemed to have been misshaped in the assembly process).  The service rep added a new door at no cost.  He said “Mr. Weber would not have had it any other way.”  C'mon man, how great is that?!  The replacement parts shipped and arrived quickly.  And I've already done several cooks with excellent results.

Do not hesitate to purchase this smoker (or one of Weber's outstanding grills).

Also, if you're the crook who stole my other grills...I forgive you but I kind of hope your meat is always a bit dry!

Weber smoker and customer service are top shelf!

I am new to everything smoking, grilling, etc.  Never ever did this before besides my pellet grill (had for about 6 months) but when I tried my friends smoked ribs on his Weber Kettle, I wanted to do the same.  Except.....all the reviews I read said to get the WSM....even my friend who made the ribs suggested the same.  Haha!  And let me say his ribs on the Kettle are amazing!!  The WSM was very easy to put together.  The fire mgmt for me was a bit tough because I'd never smoked before and I was running back and forth for every adjustment until my friend said to just let it ride and to expect swings in temp - it is a fire.

I had tried cooking ribs on my pellet grill but I just didn't like the flavor - a bit hot doggy for me.  However, my first go at ribs on my WSM were SOOOOO GOOD!!  Great smoke!  Great flavor!  I used Jealous Devil Lump Charcoal and Pecan Wood chunks by Weber.  After my first smoke, I decided to invest in Thermoworks Billows and just finished some ribs which had AMAZING smoke and flavor!  Temp was spot on!!  

I am very happy with the WSM and I would highly recommend it to anyone!  I read a ton about smoke leaks and such and in anticipation of that, I purchased and applied the Fireblack Gasket to the door (and shaped it a bit more) and to the top of the barrel.  I have had zero smoke leak!  My next go will be Beef Dino Ribs!  I tried those on my pellet, too, and they had zero smoke flavor but a smoke ring.  I will update my review, if I can, to let you know how those turn out but based on my first two cooks of pork ribs, I know they will be SUPERB!  If you don't have a WSM, get one!

Don't Think About Buying One - Get One!

I love this smoker!  I've been grilling on Weber 22” for years and finally decided I needed a smoker. So easy to order and it was exciting when it arrived. Inaugural run was just a rack of babyback ribs and they turned out fantastic. Cleanup was a breeze, too.  I love this smoker!!
