The New Balance Men`s 796v3 2E Width Tennis Shoe gets nice some improvements over the previous version, and a new aesthetic to match the LAV v2 styling. The 796 maintains it`s incredible light weight and low profile for quickness and agility on the courts. New in version 3, New Balance extended the toe cap wider to improve the shoes durability and toe drag defense. The enlarged `N` looks great on the lateral side, but it also increases the shoe`s stability as laces are through it. Mesh has been included throughout the upper to improve breathability, while the medial side gets some extra protection at the toe. After years of trendy Nike shoes, I decided to go back to my military days go-to running shoes.  I have wide feet and the extra wide versions by NB are always a welcoming fit for my feet.  Super flexible and reactive.  Loved it from first practice with my daughter.  Love it.  Happy to be back with New Balance. Literally.

New Balance US

I bought these for use in outdoor pickleball. I absolutely love them. They totally ended my foot soreness from using running shoes on the court. I usually play 2-4 hours each session with very few breaks. These shoes have been fantastic. I have worn and trusted New Balance shoes for years. These fit true to size and I had no issues with break in. I love their look and all around protection. One thing I dislike is the tongue WILL NOT stay in place. Not sure if it's something I'm doing or a design issue. 9/10 would recommend.

Excellent Pickleball Shoe

I wear 7.5/8, 2E, depending on manufacturer.  This new balance 796v3 model, I purchased 8, 2E and fits perfect.  I play padel &squash. The durability of the shoe, to be determined. I play avg 3 times/wk.  Purchased shoe mid Oct 2022 and still lasting. I expect my shoes to last 4-5 months playing 3x/ wk.

Padel shoes, perfect fit

Great shoe, lightweight, and responsive. HOWEVER, I am rating it with New Balance service in mind, since on my 3rd time out in the shoes, the grip on the inside of my right foot became unglued in the toe box area.   If you don't tend to drag your toes, I think the shoes will be fine, but if you have heavy feet like me, be careful with these.

Toe Draggers Beware

I'm using them for pickleball and tennis several times per week. Very comfortable out of the box and seems well made. Not quite as soft underfoot as my old more expensive New Balance 1006 court shoes. But the soles of those other shoes didn't last long so maybe I'll be happier with these. I won't know for a while how they'll hold up. I went a half size up from my normal size and glad I did; runs a little small.

Good so far

The shoe looked great and appeared to be built reasonably well. I really wanted to like the shoe and keep it, but it was a little too narrow for my feet. In particular, there is a bit of a prominence in the lateral mid sole of the shoe that made it just too uncomfortable to wear for competitive tennis.

These sneakers get top marks for the style and N design, but that's it. I've relied on NB in the past for good 4E wide shoes, which are not easy to find in local retail stores and have been happy with several prior purchases. NB was my ""go to"" brand for wide shoes, but something has changed.  It was difficult to even get my feet inside these shoes. The box was labeled 4E and the shoe was labeled 4E, but there is no way these are a 4E width, they were more like a Narrow. The price point is fair, but the labeling did not match the shoe. If you wear narrow or a standard width, try them, hopefully you have a better experience, but if you wear wide sizes, stay away. On a positive note, NB deserves high marks for seamless return service. One star for design, one star for return service.

Nice design, but . . .

Too Narrow, especially in Toebox. My feet hurt when just trying them on. Local podiatrist measured my feet to be between 9.5D and 9.5E. This was supposed to be a 9.5 2E. I have another NB (696) that fits fine. I do not think anyone should be responsible for return shipping for a product that is either mislabeled or poorly designed/constructed.

Too Narrow

I made the mistake of using these so I can't return them but I will not wear them again due to how narrow they feel. Thankfully I also bought a new pair of the 696 in wide and it's like a completely different shoe in which  I can actually play tennis without my foot feeling crushed.

Too narrow & restrictive and I ordered wide!

This is a great looking shoe, but it did not fir properly. The size was true, but I got it in a wide width and it was definitely not wide. I had to return it. When I returned it to the NB store, they were surprised it was classified as a tennis sneaker. From the tread and fit, they thought it more of a trail shoe.

Nice looking. Poor fit.
