Love em

Ordered these to try on the new heads I ordered. I love the feel and balance and they don't run out of my hands. Don't think I can return to the sticks I was playing before. Will order some more soon.

Made to play

The slight contour of these sticks in the grip area makes a huge difference in control. Added these to a recent order just to try them out. Absolutely love the feel and the way they play.
Will be ordering a dozen pair soon as I don't think I'll ever go back to regular 5b sticks. Give em a try.

Excellent "zaftig" sticks

zaf·tig
/ˈzäftiɡ/
adj. having a full, rounded figure

I've tried a bunch of different weights and balance profiles of sticks in the past few weeks. Mainly promark 5A/5B firegrain in the forward, rebound, and classic flavors. They're good, and the variety is nice, and I'd recommend them. They're rather conventional though, as they don't deviate too far from standard 5Bs.

These Danny Carey sticks are unique in that they're *fat* like a 2B+ but exceptionally well balanced. There's a round indented section right over the balance point of the stick which makes for a really natural grip. The stick has a slightly conical shape from end to tip, which makes it so the butt of the stick fills the outside of your hand very nicely. The overall sensation is that it feels like you've got a lot to hold onto.

The surprising thing is that because of the indent, you have a lot of control and the sticks don't feel sluggish. 2Bs always felt like I was putting more effort into playing, and working harder to control the rebound. These let you get a wide range of dynamics and speed with good feedback. If you adjust slightly and grab the end of the stick you can hit with power and authority.

Very nice, unique, and a real pleasure to play with.

Finally found my perfect pair

I've been looking for the sticks that would work for me for months now, but I could never find anything to fit my needs; something that was thicker, without being super heavy or tough on my hands. I've tried everything from 5As to 2Bs, but nothing came close to what I was looking for.

Then I called my Sweetwater sales guy Reuben, and he told me that these bad boys are the same width as marching sticks, but are only 1/4 of the weight. That's when I knew I had to get these. (I had tried marching sticks in the past, but, again, hand, wrist and arm pain). Reuben told me he got these sticks because Danny Carey is his favorite drummer, (sorry y'all, mine is Tre Cool), but he also explained that they are next-level drumsticks, and I couldn't agree more.

I previously reviewed the Ahead 2B sticks I also purchased from Sweetwater, but those are far too thin for what I need, although I did love how comfortable my hands felt when I played with them. However, I would say that without a doubt, these Vics are waaaay more advanced than the "world's most advanced drumsticks"

Anyways, rant over. Buy these sticks. You will not regret it

They’re my style

They're on the big and heavy side but not too much to where it hinders flight around the kit. They also feel great on cymbals, especially the ride. Durability is great which is important to me. The taper on the butt end of the stick is awesome too, very comfortable. I bought 3 more pairs shortly after trying them out
