The Perfect Go-To Stick

Inspired by the man himself, I picked these up at my local drum shop. The diameter makes for a great feeling grip, and the shortened teardrop tip helps provide an articulate cymbal sound. The medium taper gives that perfect all-around weight that allows for rebound and power, making it possible to play anywhere from big band to heavy rock. These have been my stick of choice since grabbing them, etching out the standard 5B's. I love em!

A stick about a man.

Like the man, this stick is a really good drummer. It has the right weight and balance for performing tasks that require those kinds of attributes. Bang! Is also a word, like the word stick is. Welcome to hell baby…unless we're somewhere else and not there.

Perfect!

These sticks are as close to perfect as you can get, in my humble opinion. I've always liked the grip size of a 5B, but always felt the sound on a ride or hihat was often too dark. Intricate patterns on hats just sound too "chunky" with standard 5Bs. This stick eliminates that problem. The tip brings out brightness and clarity from cymbals, but the weight of the stick still allows for some "thunder" from the toms and beefy snare rimshots. And if that's not enough, the durability is amazing. I love wood tips for the sound and feel, but hate when the tip starts to break apart (which for me usually happens before the rest of the stick is worn out). The tips on these sticks somehow last forever, longer than the VF barrel tip sticks, which I also love. If you've been wanting a stick with some weight AND clarity, I don't think this one will disappoint.

Great 5B for technical playing

Great sticks if you like the 5B grip size and still want to be able to move the stick around easily for more technical playing.... a la Benny Greb. The taper is just slightly longer than a regular Vic Firth 5B, which makes it feel a tad lighter moving it around. And the compact tip is fantastic, because it doesn't blow up your cymbals like most heavier sticks, but gives you a nice articulate sound. A similar stick is the Promark 5B Rebound, but to me these feel even better at the 5B size. I love 'em.
