My go to sticks!

I give these sticks 5 stars.
I have had many sticks in my 32 years of playing. I Really like the Vic Firth American Classic Vic Grip 5a's coating for the extra grip. I don't lose grip on sticks and accidentally throw them like I did in my first 5 or so years, but I still like the grip. It gives a pleasant touch and grip. I prefer them over the non-grip sticks, but I could use either, and I have both.
I used to break sticks occasionally during my early years of playing. And then it came down to more of a knowing of the sticks, the cymbals and the drums to have a finesse to not break sticks and still get the sound you needed and wanted out of your kit. I still know players that pride themselves in breaking sticks, which I will never understand. These are the same players that crack cymbals, break drumheads and dent drum hoops and complain about it.

These are great sticks. I have had the same pair of the Vic Firth coated and non-coated for 5 years and the only thing that wears is the tip and a little on the shaft from rim shots if you play responsibly. It's my go to stick!

Not as sturdy as usual...

I've broke more of these sticks lately after about 5 or 6 songs. Don't know if the source of their hickory is sub-standard or what. Usually very reliable sticks. Nothing changed about the way I've been playing. Just wished, lately that the durability was as strong as the grip is grip-py.
