Amazing Yet Affordable Earbuds!

Looking for excellent in-ear monitors? Not looking to spend a fortune? Check out the SE215 earphones from Shure. You may not know it, but these single-driver earphones outperform many dual-driver earbuds on the market. How do they do it? It's all thanks to Shure's innovative MicroDriver technology, an advanced miniature driver design that lets these fantastic headphones reproduce sound frequencies of 22Hz-17.5kHz with astonishing accuracy. They're also super-comfortable, yet fit tightly enough to block out 37dB of outside sound. That's the kind of reliability you can really depend on when you're onstage and what you hear is absolutely critical. Even if you're just looking for a set of earbuds for jamming out on your iPod, you're going to love Shure's SE215s.

Shure — quality, reliability, and durability

Shure's reputation for quality goes all the way back to World War II, when Shure Brothers Incorporated became one of the prime suppliers of military acoustical transducers (microphones and headphones) for all branches of the U.S. military. The safety of Allied military personnel depended on the proper operation of acoustical devices, and when World War II ended, Mr. Shure decided to keep using military quality specs for peace-time products. Such high standards and low failure rates resulted in lower scrap rates during manufacturing, fewer products returned for repair, improved product reliability, and increased customer loyalty. Sweetwater is proud to offer Shure microphones and headphones to our valuable customers.

Good, Basic IEM

I bought these to replace my aging Shure E2s, which worked quite well for over 10 years. There's some things they did better and other things they did worse. For instance, the soft foam surrounds are more comfortable and seal better than the hard plastic things that came with the E2s...good. They're more efficient than the E2s, good. On the other hand, there seems to be some kind of stiff/metal reinforcement for the part of the cable that goes over your ears. It's awkward and I suspect bending them every time I put on/take off my monitors will cause excess wear & tear. I'm sure they did it that way to help secure them in place but it wasn't a problem on my old monitors. That's really my only gripe about these so far.

I am primarily a drummer but also play bass and sing sometimes: mostly rock, some country and jazz. I usually plug into a headphone output on the mixer with an extension cable but sometimes I'll patch a headphone amp into a monitor send.

Side note, on both the E2s and now these, I took the surrounds off a pair of Heroes earplugs and put them on these. They attenuate stage noise less but in a more natural way and stay in my ears a little better. That was an absolute must on my E2s but only a minor benefit to these.

Shure SE215

I really like the design and comfort of these! I also love that for the price point that you get a case and foam ear tips in all sizes that come in the package -- talk about bang for your buck! They may not be considered top-of-the-line to many, but if you're on a budget, they surely get the job done with quality!

Finally they fit!

This is my first over ear monitors. They were clumsy to install making it a huge challenge. I read instructions and watched videos all instructing to insert ear monitor first the rotate the unit while putting the wire behind your ear. I fumbled with this so much I couldn't use them on the platform in the church band I play in as it was taking too long to get them set! Finally watched a video by Andrew Wall instructing to put wire over ear first then insert ear monitor. Worked great! Got used to putting them in quickly within a few practices and molding the wire curve just right to fit my ear. What a difference! Sound quality was there from the get-go, so that's why I bought them and gave this review 5 stars. Instructions and other videos rated much lower until watching the one that worked for me.

SE215 Earphones nice sound and comfortable

They took a little work getting them fitted over my ear and set in place. After about 3 hours of use, they fit like a glove. Now that I've molded them to my fit, the sound and comfort is incredible. Great noise cancellation. Good price for this quality.

Great fit and sound for a good price

I've never had in-ear monitors before, so I can't compare to other models, but these are light, fit well (the fit kit has both the foam and rubber ear buds in 3 sizes each), and produce a wide range of frequencies. Music sounds crisp and clear. I mostly use them with a wireless monitoring pack and they stay out of the way. Noise isolation is pretty good - I can still hear things around me but it's dampened (I'm not using the foam inserts, just the rubber ones).
