Absolutely Love this Amp!

I've only been playing for a little over a year but I've had experience with a few different amps to help compare. My first amp was a Blackstar ID core 10 which I purchased the same day as my guitar. It did the trick. My only problem with it (and a rather large problem) is that I could never get the Blackstar Insider software to work on my laptop; a main reason I bought the amp was to tap into all those tones so I could see how close I was to sounding like the songs I was learning. But, the included tonal options were fine enough so I held on to it.

Then I checked out the GTX line from Fender. Wow. I'm floored with how good this sounds. And it doesn't need to be cranked all the way up, this beauty sounds great at lower volumes too. Being able to switch between a classic Fender Twin Reverb, to a Princeton, a Blues Jr. or any of the other 180+ included tones is just amazing.

And the Fender Tone app is very easy to use and looks great. You can change settings on the amp right from the app in live time. The app syncs up via Bluetooth to the amp, no wires needed. You can download new tones in the Download section by featured artists like Gary Clark Jr. or by other users so you can find the right sound for whatever song you're working on.

With all of the features you could definitely get in over your head but at its core this a very user friendly modeling amp. I think because of ease of use this would be great for a beginning guitarist as well. And intermediate guitarists will have a great time with all of the options, even being able to make your own sound by picking a cabinet, pedals, and different effects.

My sales engineer, Nick Brown, was very helpful and attentive. And Sweetwater had the amp at my door in two days with free shipping. You can't beat that.

Music background: One year experience

Incredible amp... but one major fail.

I absolutely love most aspects of my Mustang GTX50. First, the good, then the bad.

In terms of tone, this amplifier sounds beautiful. I play through headphones 95% of the time (I live in an NYC apartment, and I respect my neighbors) and this amplifier still delivers all the tone and warmth I would expect. Not to mention, you get a Celestion speaker (for those times when I do get to crank it up) at the price point.

The one major fail, at least in my experience, is the Bluetooth capability. I really enjoy the Fender Tone app and playing around with the different presets/building my own signal chains. But, for some reason, I cannot get the amp to connect with my phone without deleting and re-installing the Tone app EVERY TIME I WANT TO USE IT. Yes, I have the current firmware and Fender Tone versions.

The Bluetooth/Tone capability is the main reason I purchased this amp (other than the Celestion), so you can probably see why this is frustrating. That said, I have contacted Fender's gracious, courteous team and we are working toward a solution. Perhaps a future firmware update will have me sorted.

Waiting for the next Firmware Update

This Amp is almost perfect. For me, I love gadgets as I work in IT. The fact that I can use the Fender Tone App to choose from a variety of Amp/Pedal combinations is amazing. I am not an advanced player by any means so decided on the GTX50 in lieu of the GTX100. The reason I didn't rate this with perfection is because I'm having Bluetooth issues which I'm hoping the next Firmware update will solve. For me, I only have issues when I first turn on the Amp. It never finds the Bluetooth so cannot pair successfully to Fender Tone. However, once I restart the Amp all is perfect. It's a bit of a nuisance/frustration more than anything because it has issues with the initial pair, but Fender and Sweetwater told me to wait on the next update and see if that corrects things. Through my own troubleshooting I know with certainty the issue does not lie with my iOS or the App but the Amp. As it's brand new, if the next update doesn't fix things I may see if an exchange will help as I do not want to part with this piece of musical technology. But, since there are some issues connecting, I haven't downloaded any items as I'm afraid I may lose my progress so right now I'm not utilizing all the Amps features 100% as no one is able to tell me when to expect the next update it's a waiting game.

Music background: I’ve played off and on for years but am finally actually committing to practicing daily due to the pandemic.

Needs to be compatible with a PC.

This is a stellar amp for the money. Fender just needs to make it compatible with a PC. So you can edit & store your presets to your PC. Line 6 is kicking Fenders butt with this application. But it's still a great amp. Over the years. I've owned or played through almost every fender amp modeled here and they've done a great job of recreating the tones. So I would recommend this amp for beginners to pros. Enjoy, just help me push them toward a PC application thanks J.D.

So many presets, it's almost too much (Not). It's a wonderful amp with amazing clarity and variety of sounds, easy to use. Pedals not needed.
