Clearly the best

Easy to set up, easy to use. I play the violin and it is critical to be able to hear exactly the mix I want. The ME1 gives me exactly what I need so I can play with precision intonation. If you want the best then you need the ME1.

Really really like it

We received a donation at our church that was to go toward upgrades in technology. We had already bought an A&H SQ6 board last year which we used to make a huge difference in our vocals by learning from "Attaway Sound" on youtube. We used part of the donation to buy 8 ME-1s and MEE Audio IEMs. Tonight was the 2nd practice with the band using the ME-1 system. Instant upgrade to the sound of their voices. It took about two songs for most of them to start to get it. I had coached the band ahead of time about what to expect, problems they may have and how to deal with them and generally what to put in their mix and what they may not want in their mix. I had their mixers all configured and channels labeled with all of the channels we normally use. During setup without the band there, I ran the keyboard in demo mode and set the levels in the first ME-1 to what I thought was a reasonable level. The master volume was at about 40%. That put the setting for the keyboard at about 50% so they would have room to go up on everything if needed. I copied that setup to a USB stick and replicated it to the other 7 mixers in about 5-10 minutes. Then I went back to each mixer and dialed in the things each specific user was likely to want in theirs and turned down anything they wouldn't need. That way when practice started each user's mixer should be in the ballpark. Before the first practice was over, the other sound tech and myself could hear a marked difference in their vocals. Their pitch on the big notes was much tighter, especially for some of them that were often off before. Our drummer who uses an electronic kit came and told us this was a game changer. He could hear well enough to adjust all of his pads to fit together well. The worship leader said "I can hear exactly what I want". Our best vocalist said she was in Heaven and her husband said she was so excited after the first practice and couldn't wait to get back tonight. I recorded one song from the video feed and didn't even get to mix it because we misplaced a headphone jack adapter. When we replayed it for the band, a male vocalist who I thought might not accept the IEMs said "you made us sound good!" They sat spread out in the sanctuary in awe while the song played all the way through.

The user interface is pretty good. They had to cram a lot of functionality into a simple control and small space. Some of the setup functions take a bit of knob twisting but the normal things the users do are very simple with visual feedback as well as what they can hear. The sound is as good as monitoring right at the board with headphones. No perceptible noise or delay. Each unit has a 1/8" and 1/4" headphone jack. So as they started on their first song, I could walk around and plug in a regular headphone and listen to what they were hearing. I used that to help a couple of them get their voice up in the range it needed to be and their face lit up. And I certainly don't miss the ever present request for "more of me" or "more of the drums".

We used a ME-U hub to connect and power all of the ME-1 mixers. If you have a smaller number of mixers, you may save some money by using a standard off the shelf POE network switch. When I priced models with enough capacity to run 8 ME-1s, it was getting close enough to the price of the A&H hub that we went with their part. We installed 10 cables in the stage floor for flexibility in where the musicians stand. We used standard CAT6 cable that I had left from an unrelated job and terminated them ourselves. We plugged those into the back of Ethercon ports that we secured in the floor. Then we used factory made Ethercon cables from there up to each of the mixers.

We are extremely happy using this system.

After being very patient

Our church had been searching for an IEM system for the last 2 years. Having an Allen and Heath QU 32 console, I tried saving money and researching all other types of personal mixers. In the end the A&H ME-1's made all the sense in the world. We used them for the first time this past Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Other than a few user hiccups, it sounded great and was very simple to set up and use. Glad to have finally made the right purchase for our situation

Great Monitor Mixer

I just replaced an Aviom A16II system with these ME-1 units, and after the first day the band was raving on the functionality and audio quality difference. Allen & Heath hits a perfect balance of quality, functionality and price with these units. I'd highly recommend these units.
