The Perfect Blend of Brightness and Warmth!

Since 1989, DR has been committed to crafting hand made, superb-quality instrument strings. By blending the best of old-fashioned handmade craftsmanship with cutting edge materials or string coatings, DR continues to push the boundaries of the string-making process. That commitment to quality is what has brought countless top-flight bassists and guitarists to string-up with DRs — from U2's Adam Clayton to Phish's Trey Anastasio and everywhere outside and in between. For reliable tone — acoustic or electric — you can rely on the handcrafted strings from DR.

The DR Sunbeams represent DR's "next-generation" of nickel-plated bass strings. Wound upon round cores, the Sunbeams offer up the feel and flexibility of DR's round-core bass strings. Yet, thanks to the nickel, they add that unmistakable warmth, soft-feel, and increased magnetic response. For all those reasons, respected bassist Tony Franklin loves the DR Sunbeams on his fretless.

The String That I Keep Returning To

DR Sunbeams are just very balanced from the bottom, midrange, and treble. They manage to cover all the basses unless you have your heart set on sounding like Geddy Lee. The top end is clear but manages to be harsh. I have them on my Jazz Bass, Earnie Ball Music Man Special HH. They would be fine for my two Precision Basses but I went old school and put Dunlop Flats on. Also, they last quite a. long time.

Good strings

I put these on a 2012 jazz deluxe that has a rosewood fretboard and WOW is all I can say! Good feel and great sound! What more could you ask for?

Just Good Strings

Being in my 60s and having played since I was 13, yes, I've played a huge assortment of brands and types of bass string. After putting these DR Sunbeams on my fretless Warwick Corvette and discovering how responsive, clear and virtually winding-noise free these Sunbeams are I just ordered 4 more sets for my other basses. They are a Tony Franklin recommendation, and Tony is one of the best at what he does, and he is so right about the Sunbeam bass strings.

Get you some!!

BTW: These strings are hard for the local stores to get, they're that popular. Thanks to Sweetwater for stocking my favorites!

DR Sunbeam bass strings

I needed to change the strings on my '75 Rickenbacker 4001 and wanted to return to roundwounds after several years of Rotosound flats. When I put the DR Sunbeams on (45-105), I noticed an immediate change in clarity and output. The strings seemed more balanced and the tone made me realize what I had been missing. While I still like the smoothness of flats, I'm really pleased with the Sunbeams and plan to continue to use them as my "go to" rounds. I also plan to use them on my Fender American Jazz when it comes time to change the current set. Give these strings a try...you'll be impressed by the depth and just the right amount of top end. Thanks also to my Sweetwater rep, Bob Mondok, for his assistance in getting these strings to me in a timely manner!
Music background: Playing bass since 1974
