Sweet Deluxe Reverb

When I first purchased the Gibson 60s Cherry ES-335 from Sweetwater I tested it on the Sweetwater's Edition Fender Deluxe Reverb Amp in Wine Red. The two went together like Peas in a Pod. So a week after I purchased the Gibson ES 335 I had to have the Sweetwater Edition Fender Duluxe Reverb Amp. It's a FANTASTIC Amp. It's a great Amp for Home, Studio, or Stage. I have several Fender Tweed Amp which I really like, but this new Fender Deluxe Reverb is becoming my favorite Amp. Any style/genre of music can be played through this Amp and it will sound right. I HIGHLY recommend this Amp, it's well worth the price you pay, so SWEET to the ears!

Owned 1 Year Now..,

I watch a great many influencers and Guitarists on YouTube and there is a reason I keep seeing this Amp in studios and on stages. If I could only have one Amp this would be it, It does everything well. At 6.5 - 6.9 volume, (depending on pick-ups etc.) It will break-up when you attack the strings and achieve 'Tone-Cry: with sweet bends and pinch harmonics. It is very responsive to different pedals and pedalboard set-ups, you don't need an effects loop. Plug straight in for blues, blues rock or just amazing clean tone. Tube driven Reverb at 2.8 - 3.5 tasty and the Tremelo easy to dial-in. If you are on the fence about this Amp it is safe to get off of it and get one. I am hanging on to mine until the kids inherit it!

Great Amp!

What a great amp!

First, I do love the Sweetwater exclusive Wine Red tolex w/ Wheat grill cloth. Looks very cool, and still vintage looking.

Second, Sweetwater's choice of the Jensen P12Q speaker was perfect! I'm not a fan of the C12Q Jensen, or any of their Ceramic speakers. I do love ALNICO speakers though, so this is perfect. Finally, a new amp that I don't have to change the speaker....

As for the amp, well...... it's a Deluxe Reverb! They just sound great! I'm very familiar with these, as I have had many. It was not at all hard to find my sound, it was right there! Takes pedals great.

In conclusion, it's hard to beat a Fender amp!!

Outstanding

Very clean amp, nice Reverb & Vibrato, I bought A Boss FS-6 footswitch to use with it. the reverb is latched and the vibrato isn't, this makes for a tricky little move. Very nice, I love it! You have to crank her up to get any distortion, but wow that sounds good. I also bought a Universal Audio OX to attenuate it. That combo is amazing but I'm having registration issues with the OX. See my review of that later, (after I figure it out).

Best amp I have ever played!

This review includes a comparison to the Limited Edition Princeton Reverb if you keep reading.

I really love the Limited Edition DRRI in Wine Red. It is super clean, and the clarity is absolutely unreal. It makes all of the characteristics of each of my guitars come to life in a way no amp has before. It has a ton of headroom, and it handles pedals extremely well. I hear the character of my guitar, the pedal, and the amp working together rather than anything opposing or overly coloring the signal.

I tried both this amp and the Limited Edition Princeton Reverb side by side. The Princeton is a little quieter, and the sound is much warmer than the DRRI. The struggle for me was whether or not the DRRI would be too loud and have too much headroom. It was a very tough decision between the two, and I went back and forth several times. After a real struggle I eventually chose the DRRI. I like the tone of the DRRI better, and the extra volume and headroom ended up being very welcome. Some will undoubtedly prefer the Princeton, but for me, the DRRI works best with the guitars, pedals, and style of music I play most (cleans and overdriven tones for rock and grunge).

Will absolutely keep this amp forever!

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?

Nick Dutiel

I usually gravitate toward jazz and blues, so I need a clean amp with enough headroom to handle any overdrive or distortion pedals I throw at it. That's why the '65 Deluxe Reverb is such a good fit for me. In terms of volume and headroom, this amp totally redefines what 22 watts means to me. It may be super clean, but I can still get plenty of different tones out of it, from dark and glassy leads to open and crisp rhythms, all with just a pair of tone controls. And with Fender's spring reverb and tube vibrato onboard, this '65 Deluxe is my all-time favorite gigging amp.

It’s impossible to imagine a world without Fender guitars, and if you’re like many of the guitarists at Sweetwater, then Fender not only made the first guitar you ever bought " they made the last one too! From building the first mass-produced solidbody electric guitars and basses in the 1950s to creating some of the most influential amplifier designs in history, it’s no wonder why Fender is one of the biggest names in the business. As one of the world’s largest Fender dealers, we have countless guitars, basses, amps, effects pedals, and accessories in stock and ready to ship, whenever you need them. We’re always getting our hands on their latest creations, and there’s nothing we love more than to tell our customers all about them!
