Following comments are directed toward using it as a CD player.Pros: PriceCons:- NO front panel display, so play/pause/stop/track status for CDs is unknown- Slow wake up/ready time- Slow response to drawer open/close command- Panel push buttons are stiff, and front of unit is unsupported, so pressing buttons results in unit tipping down and forward. Buttons are unusable unless you press down on the top rear of the unit to keep it stationary.- Remote is not backlit, buttons have poor feel

    The cd player is a Sonh with very few bells and whistles. The unit soung good and it is one of the few player that are cd only. Most players are not dvd that play cds. If you don't need lots of extras than this unit is good. I

    Did you know that CD players are extremely expensive these days? When I decided to change from a shelf unit to a receiver/speakers and a CD player - I thought the CD player would be the cheapest thing I'd have to buy. NNnnnnope! CDs are outdated technology and I the cheaper units are no longer made. I wondered why this is... and then I realized that unless you're an audiophile (or need a carousel), you're probably just using your DVD or blu ray player in place of a CD player! Good thought... unless you have a cheap blu ray player and there's only an HDMI hookup (which didn't match up with the receiver I purchased). So.... I found this little Sony DVD player for around $30 and decided I'd give it a try. It came before scheduled, and it works brilliantly in place of a CD player. It doesn't even look ridiculous next to my blu ray player! The sound is terrific, the unit is very small and the buttons to play, eject and stop are on the top right corner of the unit and easy to reach if you aren't using the remote. I'm very satisfied with this purchase!

    I needed a replacement DVD player for my mother in law. She had a Sony and it lasted for 20 years. So I went looking, and found this, an exact replacement model. I have always had a lot of luck with SONY, lasts long, performs well. Price is reasonable, since there are not as many DVD players out there like 10-15 years ago. some resellers are selling units for a lot more than a fair price. This is a basic unit, RCA output connections, not HDMI, so read the tech info to make sure it will work for you. It was exactly what I needed!

    Works great and seems like a quality machine. My last DVD player completely failed when trying to play a slightly scuffed disc, however, this machine played the same disc right through, no issue. This machine is notably more quiet than my last one. I like the remote as it offers extensive custom functions like “advance”, “next”, slow/fast play, etc. The remote also has a nice size/weight to it so it will not be easily lost. Highly recommend this DVD player to anyone.
